You guys crack me up!

It really is so simple though, isn't it? And there are so many opportunities for practice! Just got back from walking the dog to discover I dropped my keys somewhere along the way. Time to ask it again: What is this experience trying to teach me? :-)

Amen, sista! Dana, what you say is so true. The shift back into a different non-Summer reality can be a bitch! Conscious awareness and loving kindness toward yourself is vital to your well being and that of your children. Giving yourself permission to let it be what it is and let everyone feel what they feel is not only honest, but tension relieving when you don't have to work hard to make everything fabulous. Noticing what is already fabulous helps you realize all that effort is just in vain - the fabulousness is inherent in the experience! Here's to more moms treating themselves with love and kindness!

Every year I want the first day of school morning routine to be harmonious, peaceful with a cinema perfect send off...Ha! I smile. The reality is none of us want to be up that early, dressed, lunches prepared before breakfast is in the bellies, facing a long day of sitting still, paying attention, reading , writing, performing. I LOVE your story! I can easily trip over expectations about these transitions...They're tough. Who wants to wake up early and go to school when it's been sleep in (at least in our house the kids sleep in during the Summer) Summer schedule for several months...back to routine, desks, schedule, lunch time, playground etc. after a Summer of enjoying the comforts of home. Thanks for sharing, Theresa! I also think as mothers we are too hard on ourselves. How about a little love and kindness turned inward to the mothers out there and a peek at what's right about the way we parent! Big hugs to you Theresa.

So raw and true and OH how I can relate. Thank you for sharing your story and how we can notice and acknowledge when Poor Me shows up, then decide when we are ready to go Real Girl again. The power of awareness and accepting how we feel moves us so much quicker to Real Girl and what I want to know is... where are we all lunching?!! I want to celebrate YOU and all us Real Girls. Awesome post!

What you say is so true Theresa! Asking for help or anything can drum up all kinds of insecurities. I can remember as a young gal having to go around and sell poinsettias at Christmas time for my gymnastics team. I was always so afraid and embarrased when I was turned away. So as an adult when my own nieces had asked for support I remembered what it was like for me nerve racking and anxious at times!! Needless to say I have ended up with alot of wrapping paper and candles because my lovely nieces who I love and adore ASKED me!! They are now young women and my oldest niece got to vote today!! Like they say "It never hurts to ASK"
